To celebrate the International Nurses’ Day - 12 May, there has been a joint initiative of the Bulgarian Red Cross Youth and the "Home Care" Centre – Krivodol. Two "Health Pavilions" were established in two municipal centres of the region - Hayredin and Krivodol where volunteers of the BRC Youth together with the nurses from the “Home Care” Centre presented to the people the importance of prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. They also took measurements of the blood pressure to those who wanted and referred them to a specialist when deviations were found.
The local community was very interested in the event and the age of the participants ranged from very young people to representatives of the elderly. Young volunteers from BRC Youth at the "Vasil Vodenicharski" - HayredinSecondary School measured the blood pressure and distributed information materials to about 100 locals, most of them aged 45 to 70 years. In Krivodol the nurses measured the blood pressure of about 120 people, aged between 50 and 65 years. The campaign was joined by students from the "St. Cyril and Methodii"–KrivodolSecondary School who handed out leaflets on health issues.
